Myself,My sister and Mom love traveling,but we hardly find time to do so ( dad is busy always).
So when a friend and his wife asked us to join them for a week’s stay at kolkata we gladly agreed.
we were all pumped up about our first visit to the beautiful metro city.
As per plan, my friend along with his wife who went a few days ahead, picked us up in the Howrah railway station.
The station was crowded and we 3 were pretty tiered after a 1 & 1/2 day travel.I asked my friend if we can go by cab to the motel, but to our agony he insisted on giving us the beautiful?! experience of traveling in the local train on our first day of the visit.I still wonder how we all managed to travel with all our luggage in that crowded train! lucky we got seats. When we reached to the place of our stay,we realized it was really far away from the city. My friend was very particular that we stayed there for it was his relatives place- a safe place you see. So thats how it all started, since we had never traveled with that friend, we were really shocked to know that his idea of enjoying the trip was totally different from ours, apart from that we understood a lot more :) He liked jatka rides ,so we had to cut our time in Victoria museum.
He and his wife liked the bus rides,rickshaws while we were really thrilled about the museum.Friend and his wife dragged us to the kali temple, saraswathi temple...and they both got so godly when we stood in the banks of ganges, what amused me was, he was asking us if we 3 felt the spiritual thrill too :)( all we were thrilled was about the sunset and the beautiful waves in the ganges).
The tipping point was when we were insisting on visiting shantiniketan( which was denied by our friend), our friend was forcing us to visit Belur math.This time i got really tiered of his spiritual quest( so was my mom and sis), so i said’ please carry on with your temple visits while we 3 take a good nap’.But my friend and his wife were very upset about my insensitive nature and about my rude aptitude towards ‘GOD’.He could not take my indifference toward such an important place.
So he insisted us a lot and tried his best to make us visit the math, but when it had no effect on us, he and wife had to go on their own. Next day we all returned back to chennai. How happy we were to step into central railway station:) we told ourself ‘here on travel with a like minded people or better travel alone’
